Edge would be plenty fast if getting the theoretical maximum and the stream is lossy enough.
But who gets fast edge on 02 ever? |
Safari not playing nicely on my Mk 1. :(

My guilty pleasure is now that online poker game :(
|
has anyone downloaded Wolfgangs Vault its supposed to have live concerts from the 60s to now.
|
i have just downloaded it and its bloody quality

iFooty is my favourite app.
Although, since you can read a live text commentary of Palace games, it gets me nervous! |

Have been using Wolfgang's vault for a couple of years on my computer, didn't realise there was an app, have now downloaded it for my iPod Touch. |
Well, my iPhone is buggered, took it to the shop and it appears there is a problem with the antenna so i have to back the phone up and take it to the shop for the to send it off.
|
They just gave me a new one there and then.
Apparently I got sent a picture message today but I haven't received it. What has happened? |

I have just 'upgraded' to 2.2.
What exciting improvements should I look out for? |

Nothing really of any use to me in this update unfortunately

Podcasts OTA and turn opff autocomplete is amazing

It does remember words you add.
I can't imagine ipod without podcasts |
I've never really done podcasts either.
|
The coverville podcast is pretty good Tobes. Hunt it out if you fancy a listen to some 'different' cover versions.
|
ooh, that looks ace. I thought podcasts were normally just radio shows or something like that.
|
There is talking on it, but it's normally minimal.
|
This might be a stupid question, but is there any way I can edit and save Word or Excel documents on the iphone?

New thing with 2.2? |
On mine if I correct the spelling three times in future it remembers

If anyone is interested - Palace Radio (live commentary) works fine with WunderRadio - once you have typed in the url. For some reason it hasn't been encrypted so far this Season - I am not sure whether it will be possible to enter your password etc should encryption resume.

WunderRadio does sound the DB, though. Wonder where all the complaints about iPods not having an AM radio went. |

I don't know if WunderRadio will still work with Palace Radio as and when they do restore DRM - hopefully I will be able to enter my username and password to continue to use the device. |
Another really cool (and free) application for the IPhone is Midomi. It works really well. You sing (or hum) about 10 seconds of a song - and it finds the track for you. You can then play it in YouTube, or see the album in ITunes.

I've just got my new iphone and am a complete techonophobe so marvelling at the simplest of gadgets on it!
There are so many ideas for downloads on this thread which is brilliant but i was wondering, if the key contributors have time, whether you would be able to advise your Top 3 applications i should download? |

As for your specific enquiry, it depends so much on your particular needs and interests. For me I would not want to be without Wunder Radio, which is sensational. As I have said in earlier posts, this transforms your IPhone into a mobile internet radio - and it works perfectly on WiFi, 3g and Edge. Also on the Multimedia front, Orb is amazing. You can stream everything from your PC - and if you have a tuner, you can also watch 'live' TV on your IPhone. It works well over WiFi and 3g, and not quite so well over Edge. The best game (well, let me qualify that - the best game to show off the capabilities of the IPhone) is Labyrinth ... and there is a free version (Labyrinth Lite) so you can try it out first. If you enjoy music, then Last.FM will provide a constant stream of music to suit your particular tastes.. and it's a free application. There are lots more. If you read back through this thread you will find a number of other excellent recommendations. |
Picked an iPhone up on friday, love it except the battery life. Any tips for preserving the battery?
|
* disable 3g when not using
* disable wifi when not using * disable bluetooth * disable pushmail * disdable location services |
... or you could just switch the thing off.

Also agree with your earlier comment James, maybe an apps thread is in order. |

Is there any major difference/Benefits between version 2.1 and 2.2?

Whole set = switching the entire machine off
Subset = switching little bits it off, one at a time Thoughts? |
potentially stupid question, if you're connected to your computer, will the iPhone try & use the computer's internet connection to do stuff?

Would someone tell me how to access Street View in Google Maps? I can't find it. Thanks.
I am on OS Version 2.2 by the way. |

Has anyone got a good case, headphones i can use hands free ??
Also has anyone put a protective cover over the screen, it looks total homo but if it's worth it i'll have a look. |
I've got a cover, it looks rubbish, but is nice & firm.
|
Covers - *sigh*
This is why they should vet who get a Jesus phone |
I am clumsy, and didn't want the phone to die when I dropped it. :(

The sock is an iPhone's best friend, preferably one which looks as is it was made from a Christmas jumper.

Why would you buy something for its looks and then cover it in crap?
Just insure the thing. Can you register an iphone on one pc and then regularly use another, and then if you get a new pc will it work on that one too? |

I downloaded a podcast from Coverville, but it kept turning itself off.
Also it would stop when I press the button that shuts the screen down. Is this common with podcasts, or is it me? |

Here's something that might interest you all - I bought an IPod touch for my Son's birthday today and I said I would set it up for him while he is at School. I thought I would buy the Labyrith Application as he likes playing with it on my IPhone.
Anyway, I set it up on my PC and, after setting up the Ipod on ITunes, it promptly synced with the Touch and loaded all the Applications I had bought for my IPhone - no extra charge. Is this usual? Of course I was using my PC to setup the Touch - and I used my existing ITunes account to register it. Does this mean that when you buy an Application, you can use it on more than one IPhone/Touch without any further payment? Anyway the upshot is that I have been able to give him WunderRadio, Orb and Word Warp as well as Labyrith. |
Can anyone confirm how many pcs you can hook it up to?
There are no good cases that I've seen yet. |
You can hook it up to multiple itunes but you can only sync the data for one type from each - i.e music
|
They aren't designed to have cases, free the beauty
