BBS maintenance and downtime
We'll be carrying out essential maintenance on the BBS over the next few days. You may notice intermittent service interruptions or find that you have been logged out and need to log back in.
There will be some downtime - we expect this to start at around 10:30pm on Saturday 27th March and to last for a couple of hours. Apologies for the inconvenience. This will be another step towards an upgraded BBS with improved performance at busy times. |
Thanks for putting in the hours and skill, EE!
|
Now I understand the point of international breaks :p

Do you build new stands as well? Asking for a friend.
|
Absolutely (providing building to scale is not an issue and we’re allowed to use Lego).
|
Brilliant !:)

I used to build lego stadiums around my subbuteo pitch, with working lights and everything! |
Can you let me know the password for the Trolley character, WCB has lost it.

Hope it goes well |
The downtime is now planned for Saturday evening, 27th March, rather than Friday. We'll be starting at around 10:30pm and hope to be done in a couple of hours.
|
Your time and effort is much appreciated

He does that between 9 and 10pm.

Any chance of sorting things so that the BBS is actually accessible on match days?

Hoping PeterH will be using this this time to get a few packed lunches sorted for the week. Otherwise it could be quite a struggle to get through.

22.30 then. Is this you migrating us, prior to BBS upgrading? Or OS upgrading prior to BBS upgrading?
|
We're migrating the BBS to a new host platform tonight. Everything will look the same after this move but it should give us the ability to improve matchday performance. It's also a necessary move because the current server is no longer fit for purpose.
The upgrade to vBulletin 5 will follow as soon as possible. |
Skills to be admired.

Thanks for the heads up

Well done everyone involved in the migration. :p
|
Unfortunately we encountered a number of unexpected issues after completing the move to the new platform last night. We tried to work through these but it became clear that we weren't going to be able to get everything sorted quickly so we have reverted to the old host. The few posts made after the move have been lost.
We're continuing the analysis of the problems and we'll re-plan the work for another time. Thanks for your understanding. |

Lost my usual Password on the other host. I'd guess I wasn't the only one. |

Thankfully no one will be any the wiser about ExiledStirling's evening with a cucumber, handcuffs and a rather amorous goat called Gerald. |

Finally managed to log back in again.:lux:
Thanks for all your effort. Eagerly await the next Match day. :p |

Plus a password re-set that was not working... today it likes my old (and original) password. Thanks for all you are doing. It's got to be frustrating. |

It is a Yak called Humphrey. Also I lost my handcuffs a while back. |

I was locked out for a day or so. It signed me out / wouldn't let me log in using the correct password, and told me (on the first attempt) that I'd "exhausted the quota" of attempts so was locked out for 15 minutes. I requested a new password, got that, but then got the same message and still couldn't get in. Cleared the cache and all that crap too. But now today I'm back in and using the old password which still works. Thanks to those that have fixed it!

I suspect only us around in the night (UK time) tripped up on this. |

OK, I didn't see Eddie's post about reverting to the old host ;) Actually it still seems faster than before for some reason. Could be other factors I suppose. |
From what I've experienced and some of you that got logged out and unable to get back in, I suggest when we try again to move servers, which may be this week, that we all assume that we know our login details and they won't change on the new server so don't request a new password just wait until your current one works.

Go to user control panel. About halfway down on the left is “edit email and password” |
Quote:
|
The reasons for the lockouts are known and this should not happen again next time. However, everyone will need to log back in after the move so you are all advised to ensure that you know your password and that the email address on your account is up to date.
|
I would like to offer my services to all concerned for this update, you may do with me what you wish for 30 minutes.

EDIT -scratch that- its in the 'edit your details section' - who would have thought huh :) must be blind.... -I went to my profile bit and hadn't realised it was in the main user cp bit' soz |

The move is now re-planned for Friday 2nd April starting at 7am BST. Downtime is expected to be for 1-2 hours.
|
Big shout out for Eddie !
|
EDDIE!
|
Attachment functionality has been temporarily disabled. This is so that we can copy attachments to the new platform overnight which will reduce downtime tomorrow morning. The functionality will be re-enabled when the move is complete.
|
Reminder - shutting down at 7am for 1-2 hours.
|
Go for it. Good luck.
|
Cheers, Mick.
|
We're back up and running.
Attachment functionality is enabled. Please note that the gallery is currently unavailable. We hope to have an improved version ready soon. Thanks for your patience. Any problems, please report here. |
Thanks Eddie.
|
Blimey; it works!!
Well done and thanks. |
I didn’t have to log in and I remembered my password and everything.
I almost feel let down ;) |

Cheers Eddie. |
I think we ought to recognise the effort se1eagle has put in on this.
We couldn’t have done it without him (because we didn’t know what we were doing) |
It will be interesting to see what happens Monday night. I'm not expecting too much as I gather the system has to work out what the site requirements are to allocate bandwidth so Monday might be a bit too soon.
|
Lets hope Mr Gins operation went as smooth as this.
Good work. Thank you. |

Yes, massive thanks are due to se1eagle who has put in lots of effort to help us with this move and will continue to help us with the upgrades that are still to come.
|
Thanks guys - it's a pleasure to give something back to the BBS.
The real test is going to be how we cope on matchdays - fingers crossed we see an improvement on Monday night, but as Allan says it may take a little longer to fine tune. I'm confident we'll get there though! |

It seems to have solved the blank quote box. If any of you know what that is. I think it was a firefox thing.
