:p Thanks to all of you.

change it back....its rubbish.

The obnoxiousness filter is still being fine-tuned.

Android app doesn't seem to be working properly. Won't load any of the forums.

I tried the Android app and also got a network error, but tried again a few minutes later and now it seems to be working. We're looking at it to see if any config changes need to be made but could you please try it again and report back? Thanks.

Eddie, it's letting me log in now, but won't refresh. The most recent posts on my timeline are from 12 hours ago. Sorry to raise issues, the website seems fine now.
|
Just cleared the app cache and it's working again. Excellent!
|
trufan - that's good, thanks for reporting back.
Woosie, could you also trying clearing the app cache if you haven't already done so? |

Great stiff guys.
I am having a bit of an issue with the App on my iPhone. It wouldn't seem to reload so I cleared the Cache and logged out. Now it won't let me log back in. I get the message "Failed to process XML. Data due to unknown error". No big deal, I didn't think the App was supported anymore anyway, but it was working yesterday. Thought you guys might like to know if it is not just me. |

We'll have a look and see if we can see anything to fix this but can't promise anything. |
Just to confirm the situation with the CPFC BBS app...
- The Apple version hasn't been available to install for a long time. It has continued to work for those who already had it installed. Not sure whether it's still working now that the BBS has been moved to the new platform but we don't know of any reason why it wouldn't. - The Android version remained available to install until quite recently but that too is now unavailable. It should still work for those who already have it installed. - We'll continue to do what we can to fix any issues with the app but it is no longer fully supported and we can't guarantee anything. - We hope to make a new app available in the not too distant future but we have to get the BBS upgraded to vBulletin 5 first. |
Clearing the android app cache sorted the issue for me too. Thanks for all the hard work and time on this to all involved
|
Great work guys, it is much appreciated

Like HH. The iOS app is no longer working me too now either. I know it had been removed but existing users could still use it. Is tapa app still working?
Thanks for all the work though, none the less guys. |

I thought maybe I screwed up by clearing the cache! Tried on the iPad with same results (who knew!). All is not lost and I just go direct to the website now, which can be a challenge to read, but well worth it for a better game day experience... God, that sounds like Steve Parish! |

Yep, me too. [emoji853] I tried what you have too but nothing. I have gone back to the website with safari but it’s far from easy when you’ve been used to the app - having to zoom in and out (modern day probs eh!). I am using the Tapatalk app which is similar but not as user friendly. Give it a go. |
The iPhone app is just showing the threads from the last time you viewed them and not updating so basically not working. I guess if you cleared the cache everything would disappear.
|
Posting this from the browser on the phone so not sure why we need an app. More important things to do vB5 awaits
|
Thanks, Hedgehog and andyocpfc, for the additional info. If we find a way to fix this problem then of course we'll do it, but in all honesty we won't be able to spend much time on it as we have to focus on the vBulletin 5 upgrade, after which we hope to make a new mobile app available. For now you'll have to use the website or try the generic Tapatalk app.

I hope I didn't come across as "whining" as it was not my intention. I'll take a look at this Tapatalk mentioned on here. |

Well I got the Tapatalk app loaded and found cpfc.org. Got logged in and checked it out.
All working good. Will take some getting used to, but definitely a good alternative and a little easier to read than the main web site on Safari. Thanks for the suggestion Andy and Eddie. |
Yep, no moaning from my part either. As HH says, Tapa is good enough but takes some getting used to but not as good as the original app. Keep up the good work chaps.

Had to log back in and got a message that looked like a Safari alert saying my password had become known through a data breach and did I want to change it.
Is this just an artefact of the work that has been done on the site? |
Quote:
If you're using the same password for multiple sites, and one of those sites gets compromised, then often the information gets published by the hackers. Apple tracks these password leaks and if you try and log in with details that are publicly available, it warns you. I can't say for sure that the message you received is legitimate, but it won't hurt to change your BBS password if you're not sure. |

I have a peculiar situation that's developed as a result of the update.
I can no longer log in on my iPad using the Firefox browser. Invalid username or password. I've cleared the cache and all website data to no avail. I can log in using Safari just fine. Any ideas guys? |

When you go to the forums on Firefox, I assume you see the latest posts/threads correctly? |

As you've implied, it's likely that the issue is at my end, but I can't see how. I have now tried deleting and reinstalling the Firefox app to hopefully rule out a corrupted installation/data cache. Made no difference. I then tried the BBS's forgotten password route; copied and pasted the generated password from the email and again, no joy. For good measure, Windows is now bouncing me out of login after a short period of inactivity - but at least it lets me log back in. Is Les trying to tell me something? EDIT: Second issue is again with Firefox, on a Windows 10 machine. |

I'm a bit tied up with the match today but let me know if this is still happening tomorrow, and I'll send you a PM and see if we can work out what's going on |
Not read the whole thread, but has the app been discontinued? It’s not been working for the last 3 days or so and I just deleted it to re-download to see if that helped and it’s no longer on the App Store that I can see

Good job guys. Site worked well during the game for me.
Also the Tapatalk App is working out just fine for me now I'm used to it on the iPhone. |

Initially, Firefox on iPadOS was the only issue. Then Firefox on Windows 10 started booting me out of login after a short period of inactivity, but allowed me to log back in again (this is still the case). Logging in from Safari on iPadOS was fine initially but now won't let me in. I have deleted and reinstalled Firefox as I mentioned, as well as deleting any cache files and saved passwords that I know how to, to no avail. This afternoon Firefox on Android started acting the same as on Windows 10, however it seems to have become stable again, as I type. I consider myself to be pretty tech savvy for an old bloke, but this is doing my head in. |
Update
I left both my PC and phone logged in overnight and they were both still logged in this morning; hopefully this suggests that the windows/android issues have cleared somehow.
My iPad situation hasn't changed. I tried installing Google Chrome, but like Firefox and Safari, it too refuses to allow me to log in. |

Definitely seems faster after this. Great work all.

Yes, yes, well done to Eddie and SE1 but...

Bearing in mind that I could freely log in from my iPad prior to the work you guys have done, would any of the changes you've made alter the way the BBS reads apostrophes at login? |
Checking the logs it's definitely the apostrophes - I'm not aware of any thing that should have changed this with the migration, but a probable workaround would be to copy/paste the username (with the single unslanted apostrophes) on the iPad

I take it that is a good sign?

BBS maintenance and downtime

So are you going to have to change your username or just your password? Actually I’ve just noticed that if ever I quote you it does not say Slimbloke ‘H’ in the quote but ]: I wonder if that is relevant to this issue? |
That's exactly what the issue was, Bob.
If you type my username in a simple text editor on a Windows or Android machine, you get: Slimbloke'H' If you do the same on an iPad, you get: Slimbloke‘H‘, and for some reason, after the update the BBS now doesn't recognise iPad apostrophes as apostrophes, for login purposes. Fortunately, the workaround se1eagle suggested works. :) |
Who knew... Poor Trolley will be up the creek without a paddle!
|
'Lol'.
|
Quick report: just logged into the 'Matchday thread' for today's match v Chelsea, and it is noticeably faster than before the upgrade :)
|
I'm afraid I gave up that thread after the second goal :(
