Well the iphone O2 monthly bill comes with all you can eat internet access (as long as you're happy with paying 35 quid a month that is) plus wi-fi hotspots.

ipod touch access is dependant on free wi-fi hotspots (IE: McDonalds, Wetherspoons etc) or paying at the likes of Starbucks for expensive T-Mobile or BT access per hour.

Why would you want wifi when you have 3G/

Dave help me out here.

If i buy an iphone, i can sit anywhere in England (as long as i have a signal) and browse the net for free and not be charged ?? Is there a cap on how much i can browse ??

If i have an ipod touch i can use it free on wifi hotspots and my own router? , but do i have to pay for them and do i have a limit on how much browsing i can do.

My worry about the iphone from what i have heard is:
i cant send multiple text
Forward messages
receive picture messages
does it have blue tooth ?
and the camera is crap as I take quite a few pics while I’m out and about.
16gb isn’t very big for my music.

So it’s buy a 32gb touch and a new phone (any recommendations)
Or Get an iphone and wait till an 80gb touch comes out.
But I want to reduce the clutter I carry.

Any help would be welcomed.

Yep, there is a fair usage policy of 3Gb but you should be ok with that.

If i have an ipod touch i can use it free on wifi hotspots and my own router? , but do i have to pay for them and do i have a limit on how much browsing i can do.

If its on free hotspots or your own browser its free with no limit, incidently the iPhone would also be able to use the same connection.

My worry about the iphone from what i have heard is:

i cant send multiple text
Don't know about this one...

Forward messages
Not true, correctable in software I believe

receive picture messages
Rumoured to be coming but we'll have to wait and see

does it have blue tooth ?
Yep

and the camera is crap as I take quite a few pics while I’m out and about.16gb isn’t very big for my music.

2Mp is not great but its not terrible either. 16Gb is enough for about 4000 songs (depending on recorded bitrate)

So it’s buy a 32gb touch and a new phone (any recommendations)
Or Get an iphone and wait till an 80gb touch comes out.
But I want to reduce the clutter I carry.

Nothings perfect for everyone but a phone and a touch for the reasons above doesn't seem logical to me...your choice though Stav.

I know I'm not Dave but...

You can send multiple texts
You can't forward messages (although someone on here posted there is a way of sorting that out)
You can't receive picture messages, but I think O2 will text you a link to direct you to a web address where you can view the picture message
It does have bluetooth
Camera is absolutely fine. However it doesn't have video capabilities or a flash.

It is a cracking piece of kit. You won't regret it.

I've been reading this thread and it seems to be written in Chinese.
Is it easy to write e-mails and texts on this phone? I find it cumbersome on my current phone, either graffiti or pointing a little stylus at a keyboard.
And does it synchronise with Outlook efficiently and quickly?
Thank you.

i find it pretty simple to send email on my ipod touch, the predictive text thing works well if you do get a few characters wrong, and before you know it you will be bashing out good length emails in no time.

you can sync with outlook via itunes, i havent done it but it seems to be a very simple process.

just get an iphone. the interface is worth the investment because it is total intuition in the palm of your hand and it is therefore worth the investment.

El Aguila 02-07-2008 03:39 PM

Yes, I am getting one I think, it's out of my hands (obviously, not literally). Telefonica are giving me one.

El Aguila 02-07-2008 03:40 PM

I guess predictive text in English and in Spanish?

im not sure about that. quite feasibly but i cant say for sure. one thing i wish they would change was the fact that when you write an email, you cant shift to landscape and widen the keyboard. its fine without it, but it would make a noticeable difference.

El Aguila 02-07-2008 03:57 PM

Thank you Knowlesy.

Just went over to one of the IT bods over here.

He totally slated it and told me to get a HTC touch diamond
or a Samsung 1900.

He is a geek to rival Dave.

IW_Eagle 04-07-2008 10:45 AM

iphone is due to be released anyday in Australia, should I be looking to get one?

Stavros 69 04-07-2008 12:56 PM

no you can't.

Blind_Eagle 07-07-2008 10:02 AM

Bluetooth is very limited on the iPhone. Not much more than hands free connectivity as far as I can make out. Anyone know why?

Dave 07-07-2008 11:22 AM

I think it will come in time. All software.

An Iphone with A2DP would be amazing.

cumbrian_eagles 07-07-2008 11:22 AM

got a text from o2 with the website details for upgrading online and the site is crawling!
