I guess it's to do with the unusually high turnover of players at Palace this summer. Panini had to have the expiry of contracts at the back of their mind when choosing which players to feature

Alan Jenkins' blog says today :

"The Crystal Palace base cards are missing four cards. I thought Panini hadn't decided on the last four players by the time the checklist was printed and the cards would still be included in the collection. But that doesn't seem to be the case. The cards are numbered from 1 to 468, but the list of card types and ratios state that there are 464 cards in the collection, not counting Limited Edition cards. We'll probably have to wait for the Update set to find out which players will feature on cards numbered 131, 132, 133 and 134."

I guess for now we'll have to file it under "TBC" a bit like the home shirt, away season ticket and programme voucher booklet - all a bit half arsed at the moment!!!

Having seen an image of the Eze LE card, I wonder if all the Adrenalyn cards are going to be players in the yellow away kit? Because of the timescales involved, the cards had to be produced before the home kit was made known!

Any idea of the likely rarity of the Eze card "genuine autograph" - (not the printed autograph)? - apparently it comes via some sort of multipack.

I know in a recent series there was an Eze auto card that was /500 (yet is still selling on ebay for £££ , but wondered the likely sort of numbers this was issued in and what sort of value it would command?

I can confirm all of the Adrenalyn 21/22 cards feature the players in their YELLOW away kits! Which I think is quite unprecendented in a card/sticker collection (for Palace)

Absolutely nothing to do with the home kit being released so late, purely coincidental I would say:D

in the past there have been photoshopped cards of new signings who had never even played for us when featured on a card, but even Panini can't conjure up players in home kits when those home kits were not released when the cards went to print!

Regarding the Panini Adrenalyn xl cards, other than the signed Eze card, have all.

I agree, the Diamond card is definitely the best 'effect' and better than anything in the Revolution collection for example.

They should have used that Diamond special effect on the LE cards!

Revolution cards seem to be only dripping through on ebay,

Revolution cards are largely just more shiny 'prizm' cards to be honest

The signed Eze cards from 'last seasons' collections are still consistently going for daft money (well more than I am willing to pay) - no sign of the prices coming down!

Part of me wonders if all these Eze cards are getting shill bidded up by the sellers in the hope that desperate collectors will then pay the actual high prices they are inflating the auctions to? I can't believe Palace and Eze have vast followings of loyal collectors in the US and Asian markets! He's a great player for us, but he ain't Messi or Ronaldo!

Scanned through the checklist for the Adrenalyn 'Road to the 2022 World Cup' cards, and cannot see ANY Palace players featured this time around, which is unusual. I suppose with the departure of Hennessey and Benteke finally dropping down the Belgium pecking order, we aren't such an international force any more!

The 13 man squad that travelled on that first tour was: Johnson, goal; Collyer and Walker, backs; Innerd, Ryan, and Brearley, half-backs; Woodger, Swann, Needham, Bauchop, Roberts, Lewis, and Garrett, forwards.

It will be from a genuine match worn Benteke shirt, but as you say, not the one he's wearing on the card! Quite possibly a Villa shirt from back in the day.

I have some Cahill ones (where the picture on the card is him in a Palace kit) and the original shirt from which the piece is taken is almost certainly an England shirt

Conor Gallagher card given away with "So Foot" magazine (magazine sold in France). I believe the magazine may have been September 2021, but can't be sure.

Nice to see that there's none of that "it's a Rookie card so that one is 5 times the price" nonsense with the Panini Score cards!

Even when some of the cards actually have a RC (rookie card) logo on them!

I have drawn the opinion that it's largely an American blight on new premium card issues released over there.

Personally I won't be bothering with all the coloured parallels in the score collection, I'd rather keep a bit more back for the Immaculate series (although I won't be breaking the bank for Benteke's laundry tag lol)

I bought the whole lot of Aderenalyn Plus cards in one fell swoop last night, and there were no daft 'parallel' colourways. Much more straightforward than checking ebay a couple of times a day to discover the card you want is either on sale to US buyers only, or if it is available will cost treble the price after shipping and duty are added

I might very soon have to take a pragmatic view on all of this and stick to the rather more straightforward UK releases. Unthinkable a few years ago that I'd be considering that, but the card companies are taking the wee wee nowadays, and there's only so many different versions of a similar card you need featuring a bit of Benteke's Villa shirt from 7 years ago....

Then maybe I can chip away at the vintage Bunsen and Baines cards I want (that actually hold a genuine value as well!)

I can see were your coming from, the Premier league collections from the US is a bank breaker, and with the forth coming energy price increase , in my case, some thing will have to give , i can't keep slashing out the amount of cash i do collecting all the Palace cards, Might just the cheaper base cards and pick up others in the long term over the years

If you're in the Championship, nowadays there is absolutely nothing issued (unless you have an international player I guess, but that would be pretty minimal anyway), so if that comes along for Palace at some point, then there's (I suppose) a chance to look back and catch up...but for now I'd just take a back seat on so much of the mass produced US market stuff

I think just sticking to UK issues, that still means

- Adrenalyn cards (September)

- Adrenalyn update card bundle (Nov/Dec)

- Panini Sticker collection (January)

- Adrenalyn Plus cards (February)

- Panini Sticker update set (March/April?)

And then whatever bits there is for the World Cup/Euros

Still the fun of hunting down random foreign one-off cards and oddities

Just think I had enough of these premium US issued card series, especially if sellers don't even sell base cards in teams, but singularly. The 'Rookie' nonsense which we saw with the Eze cards last season is particularly galling.

It's not just energy prices, petrol prices etc, even my local non league side look like going up to the National League, and so very soon just popping along to watch them, which not that long ago was just a tenner, could be nearer £20 a game! I'm very lucky to have some disposable income to enjoy, but these premium card collections aren't really too exciting any more, and it's not unreasonable to look for 'value' these days!!.

Don't get me wrong, I got all the silver bar (Impeccable) cards the last 2 seasons, and I don't think they'll be making those again this year, but by issuing a deluge of new series week after week, they've turned me off somewhat.

Every time I look on the Cartophilic Info Exchange blog, there are multiple new Champions League sets out. Imagine trying to keep up with that! It might be even more prolific than the US baseball issues that seem never ending! It feels like Panini and Topps are just churning out as many series as they can across all the big clubs with little thought about making a card set something special.

Been a bit out of the loop but I think they were pretty recent as I only ordered mine (from that collection) yesterday.

These days I am avoiding expensive autos cards and all the colourway parallels, but as long as I do that, can still collect lots and keep it affordable.

On the Panini 2022 World Cup stickers front, I see there was an Andersen sticker in the 'update set'...

Also a small assortment of other World Cup cards (eg Mosaic) this year, although I did get an Andersen sticker issued in Bosnia, which was a bit unusual.

Overall, I get the feeling that Panini are scaling back on relic (shirt) cards (or maybe I'm just not hunting them out!). Certainly not into ordering stuff from the US anymore with all the customs and global shipping postage charges, had to draw a line under that!

Oh, and the 2023 Premier League sticker book comes out on something like 28th December (the odd ebay seller is already flogging complete team sets of stickers if that's the way you usually do it!)

Thanks John. Must admit I've had to become pretty selective on what I collect nowadays due to a combination of the sheer volume being issued and the price.

I find myself largely going for the mass-produced low price everyday stuff, and in terms of the more limited stuff made for the American market, only if it really takes my fancy.

I do still enjoy tracking down obscure foreign only issues when World Cups and Euros come around though!

I really wonder if anyone, even the American collectors REALLY collect a whole set of these cards, considering that across a season there's a new card set on average every couple of months? The volume of new issues is staggering.

There are collectible trading cards (sort of like top trumps) with this seasons programme - 4 per issue

Cheers for the heads up, i'll see if they appear on ebay through out the season, going to cost a packet buying the programmes all season just for the cards
