Next Labour leader?

So we know itís probably not far off. Even Starmer wants the rules changed as itís getting closer. So who will it be? Rayner, Streeting or someone else?

Someone who isn't obsessed with which of the Judean People's Front or the People's Front of Judea is correct.

I'd be happy with Burnham, seems to have quite a bit of respect up north and yet I think he'd appeal to southern swing voters as well.

Burnham would be good. I’d prefer Yvette Cooper and I like the look of Jonathan Reynolds.

I think it's time people realised the Labour party is utterly and Irredeemably finished.

The machinery of the party is too much indebted to the establishment to deliver anything other than milquetoast platitudes to progressive politics.

Whoever the party elects as leader those voices will demand they moderate their tone and soften their policies lest they be entirely unelectable.

The bridge builders in the Labour party (Rayners, Burnhams, Ed Milliband e.t.c) will try to accomodate that whilst pushing for a somewhat progressive agenda.

It comes off as milquetoast and insincere and the public won't buy it, the machinery of the party will blame the individual for not triangulating enough, anonymously brief against them to The Times or whoever, go on about how deranged the membership are and then try to find someone who'll they'll try again with an approach even closer to the centre right line.

If the leader does what Corbyn did and sticks two fingers up to them and goes about trying to do things a different way the party machinery will actively try to destroy any chance of success because it's so against their ideology but they've also got the hump that they've been sidelined.

I'm afraid you're over-thinking this. A significant majority of the voting public just want someone they like, that connects on a human level. They really do not care about the internal scraps going on in any party.

I think a lot of people care more about oven ready deals and driving a digger through a wall. We’ve been learning from Putin’s stunts. I was impressed when he found that ancient urn in the sea though. Good job the cameras were there to catch it

Yes as a vehicle for any significant change labour is finished. Corbyn was a blip on that part. Starmers job is to drive the nails in to make sure that never happens again.

Well so was Brown, Miliband and Starmer.

And 2017 was as close as it got and if it werenít for the actions of the right labour might well have won.

I am Not a Labour supporter, but i just can't imagine in my wildest dream ever seeing Angela Rayner being leader and the thought of her being Prime Minister is a nightmare on par with Freddie Kruger.

I think it's unleadable. It's too broad a church and very few people you can see in cabinet posts.

After Labour lost in 1979 a new generation started to emerge in the mid 80s that you could see in power. I just don't see that now.
