So it is looking like all games will be on TV until fans are permitted back in stadiums.

I'm sure more details will be announced soon.

Common sense at last when lower leagues let fans in they might object that it will effect there attendances but if there reduced anyway don't see it effecting them .

Seems to be quite bizarre that we're in effect, totally locked out of seeing the Southampton & Everton games as they happen.

Unless you live abroad, I believe in USA you can choose to watch any Prem game live.

So in effect, loyal, season ticket holding fans are second class citizens compared to foreign tv audiences.

Of course money talks, and match going season ticket holders are just the icing on the cake compared to the big bucks tv companies who are the priority for the clubs

I thought the PL and government had now lifted the 3pm blackout, opening the prospect of all the games being on TV again before crowds are allowed back (just not free to air this time) ?

Typical Palace Paranoia (TM), but my main concern is the standard of refereeing and VAR against what will effectively be an observational blank wall. Dodge-pots like Andre Marriner or Anthony Taylor can make poor, biased decisions at 4:30pm and us mere supporters of each club won’t be able see them until about 11:30. Talk about over the hills and far away....

The Broadcasters are happy to provide blanket coverage again, but the PL Clubs want more payment for games above and beyond the original agreed contract. Season ticket holders unable to see a match they’d theoretically paid for was a bargaining chip last backend, but not now.

I have updated the list (about 3 posts into the thread) with the confirmed fixtures for September.

Regarding the TV Blackout and possible showing every match, because the blackout was put in place by the FA in conjunction with UEFA there are a lot of hoops that need to be jumped through in order to get it right. Then you have the talks between the television broadcasters themselves. There have been some rumours that other channels would want to get involved.

For example currently holding the rights are Amazon / BT / Sky Sports, but, towards the end of the season just finished you also had the BBC getting involved.

The Government (certain aspects of) were keen to continue to spread the channel coverage so to speak so that ITV / Channel 4 / Channel 5 also got involved in showing games, the issue with that is that new "digital" platforms only like Netflix and YouTube may want to get in on the action as well.

It is a mine-field.

I guess that is reasonable, the clubs are losing money from ticket revenue and the broadcasters will presumably gain money from advertisers, so they do deserve a share of that. It doesn't make sense to not make these games available so I expect someone will give way in the end, especially once the fans start making a noise about it.

The clubs need the money? Players will support it because it increases their earnings and brand exposure? More TV companies want to get involved and the FA will want more competition for TV rights. It will happen unless lawyers for existing TV rights holders can block it.

Premier League news: vote for 5 subs was, as predicted, defeated at meeting today and will be 3 subs next season. Also: looking positive for behind-closed-doors matches to be televised but final decision at meeting early next week.

Fingers crossed. People would be a lot less angry about the ST situation if the morally correct decision is made to broadcast or stream the games we can't go to. Even if the right decision is made, it's still appalling it's taking until the week the season starts to get it agreed.
