I think like that quite often. Remember starting work in the mid-70's and having to listen to old boys going on about their exploits in WW2. It seemed like a lifetime away. It was only 30 years or so in the past.
Same as if your listening to an ex-vet these days talking about how he legged Saddam and his crew out of Kuwait back in 91. Seems like yesterday.

The one that always gets me is it was around 20 years between Elvis/the start of rock and roll and the advent of punk. It's now over 45 years between then and now.

That was my wife’s experience when she volunteered at a rescued dog shelter. Gave up after a couple of months as the main people there were up their own arses and impenetrable to befriend. It was run as a social club/clique.

Christopher Trace, one of the original presenters of Blue Peter ( a children’s programme), was Charlton Heston’s body double for the Ben Hur fillum.

Now that is a good one!

I'm old enough to remember Christopher Trace presenting Blue Peter.

From next year UK passport holders will be required to provide fingerprints when entering the EU.

Paul McCartney was 64 when he split from Heather Mills (mind you I haven't fact checked this one)

So she plainly wasn't needing or feeding him then - and I bet she locked the door as well

Margaret Thatcher helped invent the Mr Whippy Ice cream.

I bloody love them too. I will continue loving them but will be a guilty pleasure from now on.

Thatcher's role in this innovation was developing an emulsifier that allowed manufacturers to whip more air into the mix. This innovation made owning a Mr Whippy truck a viable business.

EU and UK citizens have to do it in the US.

We'll probably introduce it as well.

In the US?

Have to do it all the time - last time entering San Diego from Mexico a few months ago.

The best thing was the foreign passport queue was less than the US Citizen queue and we were through quicker.

When I came into the US recently via Miami, the passport control had this gadget for want of a better description that was like some small opera glasses. You had to look at them and the guy seemed to get some kind of feedback to give him the OK.

I have to assume it is some sort of retina scan, and I know passports are all biometric etc., but can they get a retina scan from the crappy photo in your passport, or did they slip getting my eyes scanned past me somewhere along the line?

Or maybe this is what the guy was doing... getting a retina scan for future use?

As an aside, my new Drivers License has my thumb print on it.

Banks and Govt departments all use thumb print scanners here. Our ID cards include a thumb print.
