If only we had a Jackson or a Martyn again some of you would understand what a good keeper is……

£3m for Hennessey doesnt seem bad value.
Until you realise that both Martyn and Speroni were £1m. Guaita, Johnstone, Butland, and Kilray were free. Vaeen was onloan.... he's the worst value for money we've had for about 2 decades. |

Decent but not in the same league as either Jackson or Martyn

100% agree I’ve seen them all since 1968 and these two are streets ahead of any others as much as I loved Jules

Red card ultimately costly for Wales as he would have played tonight - they missed his long kicking game - potentially the end of a great international career - legend 👍

My Father, who first went in the early 60's always maintains that Jackson was the best keeper he's ever seen at Palace. Must have been one hell of a goalie!

I was gutted he didn’t play tonight. We’d have won 6-0 if he had.

You can see why he has so many caps when the alternative lets one through his legs and does the Wayne step to one side on the Rashford free kick....

Does anyone listen to Owngoal when he pipes up about keepers anymore? Did they ever?
WH is a good back up PL keeper, Wales missed him tonight. |

Wasn't Martyn the first £1m goalie?

Many thought Palace were crazy to have spent so much on a keeper but we built the team on him. You couldn’t have done that with any of the keepers since him including the staggeringly overrated ones

We could have built something on the massive cinderblocks Wayne Hennessey has for feet.

Remember that Martyn save at home to Huddersfield in a 0-0? 1994 or so?
Huddersfield had a player break through towards the right side of the goal and he squared it across the six yard box towards the left side of the goal where another incoming striker hammered it first time low towards the bottom corner. Somehow Martyn got across and pushed it wide of the post. Best save I've ever seen. Can't find it anywhere on Youtube. ![]() |
