All very subjective of course, but I doubt you’ll find anyone agreeing with you.
Floyd are great, but they produced a lot of dross in between some sublime musical moments.

There are many bands I listen to ahead of the Beatles, but they were all influenced by them!

It’s pretty hard to deny that popular music would look very different today without them.

With out voicing an opinion on the Beatles versus other groups (they are not bands ) even with the supposedly brilliant George Martin their recordings are dreadful.

First saw the Beatles on Ready Steady Go in 60' something. Had heard their music before but as we really only had Luxembourg on the the old Crystal set, BBC was really a waste of time then until the pirate ships came along. Anyway RSG hooked me and been a huge fan since.

Just to add it was the Beatles who opened the way for some great bands who in terms of just selected music these groups individuals are up there with the fan 4. Small Faces, Animals, Who, Spencer Davies, Bowie and others.

The Beatles as they grew and their music evolved opened my ears as it did many others to many other avenues of music. Opera, Classical, Blues and others. Their influence is not just their own music but their inspiration to others.

A Beatle is 80 today.

He has got to be the youngest looking 80 year old I’ve ever seen. The drugs do work.

Amazing that he’s made it so far considering how ill he was as a child. Spent years in hospital, and once slipped into a coma and his mum told on three occasions he wouldn’t make it through the night.

A massively underrated drummer.

Happy 80th Ringo.

He does look a young 80 year old.

Don't really agree that he was underrated as a drummer though. I was drumming when he joined the Beatles, and frankly, he was easy to emulate when my band did a cover. His style of drumming was his strength and characterised the early tracks very well., but there wasn't a lot of skill or agility in his technique. My son, who was the drummer in the Rumblestrips was far superior, but sadly never made the same millions.
