No you're right, getting relegated last week from the division we are beyond desperate to remain in carries precious little weight.

Who above us in the league table right now should we by rights be ahead of in terms of historically big club and todays budgets.

Roy has done amazingly well to get us to where we are!

There is literally no one complaining about league position. That's a strawman argument.

Yes he was very good at Shakhtar. I'm a big fan but it would be a pretty big change in style.

EDDIE HOWE'S representative has confirmed Celtic's top target is not ready to return to management until the summer.

SunSport revealed on Tuesday that the ex-Bournemouth boss was prepared to wait until the end of the season before taking up the Parkhead vacancy.

Both parties remain locked in talks over a move that would see him replace Neil Lennon and Hoops chiefs remain confident they will get their man. It's believed Howe would prefer to wait until June before returning to the dugout as he spends time with his family after leaving the Cherries last August.

Celtic's hierarchy are relaxed about the situation and are willing to let Howe begin with a clean slate in pre-season before starting the huge rebuilding job. And a representative from Howe's camp tonight confirmed: "There has been significant interest in Eddie from a number of clubs.

"However, talks of any deal being close are extremely premature. His plan remains to not return to management until the summer at the earliest."

SunSport understands Howe is seeking ressaurances that he will be able to draft in his own backroom team. The one-time touted England and Arsenal candidate is pushing for trusted ally Richard Hughes to be lured away from his role at Bournemouth.
Celtic's board are open to the idea, but it would mean ripping up plans to appoint Manchester City's Fergal Harkin as director of football. But crucially, majority shareholder Dermot Desmond is willing to play the waiting game to land number one choice Howe.

Meaningless stats. He had bad injuries to key players was on a terrible run but actually turned it arpund. V unlucky to be relegated. He is a gamble but at least we might play some watchable football.

Iím quite keen on Howe but itís hardly a meaningless stat.

Hodgson has suffered with ridiculous things injury issues yet still had us always well away from the bottom three regardless of whatever spin you put on the man.

Well they did get relegated last season so not surprising . They do tend not to have many draws . In the 67 games quoted , they got 62 points . However as a balance the 9 games before the analysis by J Percy , Bournemouth lost 2 drew 2 won 5 .
I guess it is the way he plays , as in try to win and not hold on for draw . . Does not appear to be coming here anyway .

I do not disagree . Hodgson is a master of grinding out unexpected draws , Howe probably does not have that in his locker . However i would say Bournemouth losing Brooks for nearly whole season was huge blow to them . I would dread to think of Zaha being out for best part of season .

Its odd though, but just recently with Eze and Jairo in Midfield our forward play has looked much better under Roy. With Schlupp, Eze and Jairo pushing forward from midfield, even Benteke was starting to join in with flicks, one two's and goal efforts. Could be the start of a new era under Roy.

It's definitely not meaningless.

It doesn't necessarily mean he wouldn't do a good job for us or any club he goes to next. But meaningless it ain't.

Roy > Howe.
We could have Matt Hancock managing us and there would have still been record sales. People are desperate to get back to leisure activities and see their friends.

The real test would be first couple of home games if Roy were to stay. If he were to leave new signings on the bench and setup like the Fulham match I think the fans patience will be thin for that type of approach.

Can anyone offer a plausible theory as to why it has all gone very quiet on the "Wor Roy" contract extension front?
The man himself has made the decision to hang up his Palace coat and the club will announce it when they feel it is the opportune time?
A contract has been offered but "Wor Roy" is not happy with the terms and is still in negotiation?
"Wor Roy" is staying but the club feel that an announcement could affect season ticket sales and will wait before a grand announcement ?
Last year "Wor Roy" had signed his contract in early March but here we are 8th April and no news at all.
I don't know, I am scratching my head which is getting balder by the day.

Wouldn't be so sure. He said back in November he was waiting till this summer and he wanted to spend some time with his family and see his kids grow up.

Celtic he has the choice of uprooting his kids from their friends and schools etc for what is a role that can only last a year or 2, or to not see them for weeks on end and just move himself to Scotland.

Pulis managed Palace whilst living in Bournemouth - its doable.

Porto fans I was speaking to yesterday were not keen when he managed them, although they did say that they didn't have a great team at the time. They didn't think he would be great in England.

Dare my good self utters these words, but on the football front, 'Celtic' offer more than we do at this stage. At "Celtic" his team will play in front of large crowds, they will be challenging at the top with very realistic prospects of "Europe", they will be one of the "Big boys" in the league. At Crystal Palace he will be trying to keep our "Heads above water" with ending in 10th place considered a good finish. Maybe my words are "Poppycock on stilts".
