[B]Folan was a decent player. I was at Brentford several seasons back when he scored a cracker from the half way line against Cambridge, live on Sky TV.

I was at that game to Al !, December time wasn't it ?

Just goes to show how even the best talent spotters can be deceived
I always thought Launders was a good player, he just never got the right breaks, seem to recall he went on loan elsewhere and was then recalled to start at home.

Scully was a goood player also, basic old fashioned winger...

I remember rory used to live at digs somewherre on Morland Road. I used to get the bus with him and a couple of the other lads who were staying there when they were off to training.

Nice lad, and I was well chuffed when he made his debut. Never saw him again much though before he went back to Ireland. If memory serves me well, it was just about in the administration years and the timing was all wrong for him and Launders/Folan etc.

Always thought it must have been nice to go back to Ireland as a Premiership player though - even if it was just a couple of games !!!!

Just looking at this thread and I was sure that Steve Evans came on in that match against Wednesday. Sure he put the ball in the top right corner in front of the Holmesdale as well in a disallowed effort.

Memories could be faded, but I remember working in the then Family Enclosure where all the young players hung out (to flirt with the lovely burger girls), and being made up for him that he made the pitch.

Perhaps one of our resident experts can correct me?

Tony Folan came on in 74th minute for Sasa Curcic and Clinton on in 83rd for Neil Shipperley.

Unused Palace subs were Carlo Nash, Robert Quinn and Danny Boxall.

Consider me well and truly corrected!

Did I make up the 'disallowed' goal as well!?

Cheers! :P

I was bored so starting googling players from the 97-98 Premier League season and came across this article about Rory from 2020.

I thought it was a brilliant article and he was the first man from Galway to play in the Premier League.
