Yeah exactly as you say. Think TV rights would take a hit - but as I can't see Sky being able to compete financialky with a streaming platform model, maybe they would want to continue to support and hype a revised Premier League, seeing as they'd not have super League games to show live?

Interesting, thanks. The idea of these six clubs grudgingly playing reserve teams in Prem is very problematic. You're right, it would devalue the league, confirming it as an 'inferior product' to the new superleague in the 'global marketplace'. A year or two of that, and it would lead to the Greed Six quitting the Prem in any case.

Greed Six have given Prem League an ultimatum. Prem has a tough choice to make. Keeping the 6 in and throwing them out are both bad options. For me, that means they have to be bold and go with the option that suggests bargaining from a position of strength, which is to throw them out.

Their best hope is to call the six clubs' bluff and threaten them with immediate expulsion this coming season, effectively saying to the world that the Prem will always be a bigger product than this unformed and untested new superleague.

You think the government are going to pass emergency law that bans Manchester United from playing at Old Trafford. The wankers would clear off and play games elsewhere until that changed.

Are you trying to suggest ideas that accelerate this or something?

The backup plan to the TV value argument is that the Premier League will go ahead with their own monthly subscription content.

In July 2019 the Premier League released a press statement stating that for live match coverage across the globe there were 978 million homes watching.

At £9.99 a month - £119.88 per year (or the equivalent of) that is a season total of £117,242,640,000 (117.2 billion £)
At £14.99 a month - £179.88 per year (or the equivalent of) that is a season total of £175,922,640,000 (175.9 billion £)

The current domestic and overseas TV deals I believe come in at £9,000,000,000 (9 billion £)

So, even if the up-take was poor it would still need to be 6% or more of those 978 million households to be better off.

Where would they play? Do you think the players would be OK relocating? They've signed up to play for Manchester United in the Premier League not Riyadh FC.

Where wouldn’t they play? A couple of games in Australia, maybe some in SE Asia, the US, the Middle East. Perhaps they could offer to hire out Wembley.

Players play primarily for coin, not for glory. Players will follow the money (aside from a few at the end of their careers perhaps).

I would absolutely sign up to a monthly subscription of 9.99 to watch every premier league game. It's interesting that this hasn't been considered by the Premier League before now.

A cross between the Harlem Globetrotters and Kerry Packer's World Series.

Actually if we sling them out Kerry Packer's circus might show how football will bounce back. Kim Hughes did a good job of steering the Aussies back up to test match standards after some poor years and bringing the young players on.

10m homes in the UK paying £9.99 monthly for a PL subscription would net the PL £1.2bn, about a third of what the broadcasters pay.

It's a gamble and brinkmanship.

I am sure the 12 must have war-gamed out the scenarios but ultimately they have come to the conclusion that they are bigger than their national leagues. So the 6 together are bigger than the premier league and the threes are bigger than La Liga and Serie A. And that together they are bigger than UEFA, FIFA and football itself.

There can only be one response and that is not to negotiate, not to concede not to compromise but hit these ****ers as hard as possible. First of deduct them all 90 points, then fine them 100 million each for bringing the game into disrepute, if they then wish to continue with their venture expel them from their domestic leagues, European competition and also ban their players from playing for their countries.

Also set up a fund for fans of those clubs to relaunch their own fan-owned clubs.

These clubs came from their communities, generation after generation of working folk, maximum wage players and steely managers built these clubs. We have let a mediaeval dictator, a shady tax exile, a Russian super crook, and three franchise American robber-capitalists steal our culture and community history. Let's take it back and let these greedy ****ers play each other in a competition no one is interested in, in empty stadiums.

Do not concede, punish and exile.

There was a viable alternative at home then, there won’t be if you ban all the revenue generating clubs.

Hi Harry Kane. You can earn 400k per week on a world tour (pretty much at tax free) or you can earn 25k a week playing for Leeds in the rump of the premier league.

You think Kane is picking Leeds? Seriously?

At least now, if this happens, if Wilf does move to Arsenal or another of the ‘big six’ clubs we haven’t got to worry about him coming back to score against us.

And that’s fine but how do we pay for the new stand?

Actually we probably wouldn’t need one.
