That's a different Ruth Dudley Edwards just as people dont realise there are 2 Kate Hoeys - dont mix them up with their totally contradictory views depending on the day of the week.

It's offensive to say that all brexiteers are thick *****.

Some of them were in it just for their own personal grift and exploited the thick *****.

Yep. Oddly enough a quote of the Duke of Edinburgh from To view the link you have to Register or Login made me think of doggo's post: “People still respond more easily to symbolism than to reason.”

In reality Lordy David Frost can easily solve this by having a meeting with Brussels and Dublin? Over a cup of tea if required, surely
Personally I could live with the borders down the Irish sea if it meant Boris Johnson dead in a ditch. There is a shameless psychological PR trick where you get people to refer to a 'personality' by their first name only. Posh, Becks etc. What this does is psychologically prime you for a more personal sense of identity to them, as opposed to a formal one.

We're raised and put through schooling with the notion that people we like or are close to we call by their first name, but people we generally refer to by an honorific and their surname, which creates a distance.

As a result, we tend to create excuses and forgive the failures of our friends, but remember those failings of those we 'identify' as 'superiors'. BJ Bear has this down to a fine art - the notion of coming across as a 'mate or friend'

There's a reason why the Conservative Party always referred to Corbyn by his surname, and Johnson by his first name.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but I see the UKIP London Mayoral candidate is called Peter Gammons. I pity satirists at the moment.

Brits living abroad could vote in the constituency they were last registered in up to 15 years after they left the UK.

Even before Brexit he would have needed a CMR form (international delivery note), so there would have been a paper trail.

The difference now is that there are customs checks and additional documentation which in his example cost the antiques guy who was taking delivery of the goods in excess of 1,000 euros.

Red tape goes back to the 16th century when they started to bind / tie legal and official documents in red tape.

I'm sure that Reinhard "The Hangman/The Butcher of Prague/The Blond Beast/Himmler's Evil Genius/Young Evil God of Death/The Man with the Iron Heart" Heydrich would agree.

Johnson should not have been allowed to announce it in the middle of a pandemic on Christmas f**king Eve. No wonder it received zero scrutiny.

that's been Johnson's brand all along, it took him to number 10 when he would never have got here on ability or hard work, anyone using his first name (Labour MPs included) as he has always wanted have fallen for his fake persona
