I went to the Arsenal game with Jack Regan and a few others.
We played terribly, Arsenal could've won by 5 or 6 to be honest.
We went to a pub on the Holloway Road afterwards to drown our sorrows.
The odious creep Rory McGrath was in there with a few pals.
He came over to our table and was taking the piss about us getting relegated.
A few words were exchanged and in a friendly embrace I nutted him and he left the pub.
That's all I remember...

Same here.

It was like All In on three aces at poker and watching the lucky twats get a flush card by card.

Would that be Rory McGrath, the supposed ex comic who ironically wrote a book called 'Bearded Tit - Confessions of a Bird Watcher' - who later got charged with stalking a woman (in court he admitted and was sentenced for harrassment), whom he had had an affair with?

I haven't forgotten how Oldham fouled up our end of season in 1964. We had won promotion mid-week and needed just a draw to finish division 3 champions. And they beat us 3 1 to leave Coventry number 1. We still celebrated but it rankled!

I found these under the floorboards of our house in Anfield when we had the electrics done.

That was very frustrating. It was 0-1 for most of the game - one Palace goal at that stage would have been enough and yet it never felt like it would happen.

Arsenal fans to the right of us in Clock End were cheering each Oldham goal and chanting 'Oldham are winning' to add to what was a terrible afternoon.

Biggest killer was British gambling laws meant you couldnlt bet on Palace losing, Oldham winning or even those two results in a double!

It was minimum trebles at this stage thanks to the sheff Wednesday match fixing scandal of the 1960s
