I agree, and they should have the chance. The tickets have been on sale for over a week. I can buy a ticket, but only for me, even though i can specify that it should be a ticket for a junior. Why give me the option if i am not allowed to give the ticket to my son?

Just buy it as a junior and give him your ST which he can show and will match the name on the ticket? Just make sure he takes his own photo I.D as well.

"-Before entry is allowed into the Amex Stadium, security staff will be checking the name on each ticket and this must match the name printed on your Season Ticket/Membership card. If the name on the match ticket does not match your Season Ticket/Membership card, fans will be refused entry into the stadium."

I'm assuming the buck and blame is down to BHA or Sussex Police for installing such ridiculous OTT fan management. If they didn't make such a big fuss about potential agro, there probably wouldn't be any.

If it were me, I'd probably take the gamble they won't check, but it's a gamble.

The club has already refunded my money because they say he won't get in because the ticket will have my name on and his ID will have his. Yes, I could risk him having my season ticket as ID and hope they wouldn't want photographic evidence that ties in, but I am reluctant for him to go all the way down there only to be turned away. It is very disappointing though. He's at an age where he's just starting enjoying going to more and more away games on his own or with mates, but this is one experience he'll have to miss out on because of pathetically petty rules.

Or he could buy tomorrow when they open to the next level of points?

They reckon they'll be sold out soon today. I asked earlier and they said within 2 or 3 hours.

Maybe there will be some left but they didn't say they were lowering the loyalty point threshold any time soon. i'm inclined to say 'f**k it' now and we'll just watch it on the telly, rather than hang on in the hope they'll open it up to the mere plebs like us who have accumulated shed loads of points as a family over the years but aren't loyal enough to get a sniff at a ticket until the eighth phase of eligibility.

You're taking it badly but with it any points system there will be people who fall just short of qualifying. If the tickets sell out in the current points bracket then fair enough. Nobody on over 4,500 gets to that number without putting a huge amount of money, time and effort into supporting their team. Fair play if they manage to get one. If add in another another points phase later this week, good luck to your son in getting another one.

Odd. I checked no more than 5 minutes ago and there were about 200 tickets left across all four blocks.

I suppose they'll just give those 200 odd tickets to those on the list with the most points

I took it badly because i have more than 4,500 points and wanted to surprise my son by getting him a ticket as he'd been saying how much he wanted to go, having never been to Brighton away before. They let me buy one and specify it was a junior ticket, only to then tell me he couldn't use it as it was in my name. Seems mad to me. We have four season tickets and over 15,000 points. Only one of us wanted to go, but sadly the rules won't allow that.

Yeah, they did similar for Spurs away - took it off sale before it was sold out and sold the remaining tickets via the waiting list.

Your disappointment and frustration is understandable but the game sold out to fans with 4,500+ points and your son, like many other fans, didn't have enough points. Obviously fans do exploit the loopholes in the loyalty points system and buy tickets for friends and family who don't have enough points but that's not officially allowed. If it's at a one-per-member phase and you buy a junior ticket against an adult season ticket, then clearly you're buying for someone else and they're not going to allow it. Then of course there's the extra complications with the security rules for this particular game, names written on tickets etc.

If your son wants to go then he'll have a very good chance of getting a ticket if he joins the waiting list.

I've been for the last three games and have never had my name checked against my ticket. I think I've only had to show a ticket once before reaching the automatic turnstiles.

Get him on the waiting list and I'd predict that he will be ok
