I meant more that even if it seems likely, his word doesn't really mean that much until we actually have it confirmed that he has joined us. That's not necessarily a reflection on him, more just the nature of how quickly things change in football.

That Blackburn game was possibly one of the most enjoyable I've seen us play. It was never in doubt from the first minute - we played some imperious stuff.

I was at Leicester away and that was a deserved win too. Good atmopshere around that time.

I can corroborate this. Apparently he ran a cup of tea over to Roy too.

Does seem unlikely . If there have been any negotiations ( not convinced there have ) then they would be private . With Roy saying he has not discussed contract yet it would be odd that we would be showing Eddie Howe round training ground .

Has disaster written all over it either way, if he does well you just know he’ll be Arsenal bound given how shit Arteta is.

Halfway through a two-week gap between their last and next fixtures, Crystal Palace have found themselves with plenty of time to continue deliberations over the future of manager Roy Hodgson and a raft of first-team players whose contracts are scheduled to expire at the end of the season.

The key question is whether Hodgson will remain in charge of a club he joined in 2017 and has kept in the top flight throughout; having finished 11th, 12th, and 14th, they sit 13th this time round.

If Palace decide against extending Hodgson’s tenure or the 73-year-old chooses to walk away, the club’s hierarchy will have a crucial decision to make and the likes of Sean Dyche, Eddie Howe, Frank Lampard, Steve Cooper and Valerien Ismael have all come under consideration.

But while those candidates are well documented, there will inevitably be other names in the frame and The Athletic has learnt that among the coaches Palace are contemplating is Patrick Vieira.

The 44-year-old Frenchman has been out of work since leaving Nice in December and attracted interest from Bournemouth when they were in the process of naming a new boss earlier this year.

He previously led New York City FC, has been on the radar of sides including Newcastle and was in contention for vacancies at Arsenal — where he starred as a player — in both 2018 and 2019.

Last week Vieira gave an interview to L’Equipe in which the newspaper reported that two English teams have “positioned themselves” to move for him, though their identities were not disclosed.

Should Palace opt for change, it is unclear if the ex-France captain would be a top contender — especially given he is yet to manage this country, aside from Manchester City’s elite development squad — although his background in English football and availability might be attractive factors.

It is not beyond the limits of possibility that "Wor Steve" and the American investors have no appetite to replace "Wor Roy" as he has kept in club in the PL and protected their investments. No need to replace him as far as they are concerned? He has done the job asked of him and his experience is of great value.
It is "Wor Roy" himself who has decided that it is time to call time on his career, placing "Wor Steve" under pressure to find a suitable replacement, a situation he would rather not be presented with ? This could be a load of old poppycock with me being "Way off radar".

I will say you are spot on with your assessment "my dear Trolley" i agree it will all be down to "Wor Roy" himself and my own instincts are he will walk, but why on earth do you refer to him in that manner, is he not an Addiscombe lad ? .
As far as who i feel will take over? i have a very strong feeling "Wor Steve" will settle on Frank Lampard, even though i suggest Eddie Howe would be the more suitable option for CPFC.
