May be an idea to make a copy of the parking voucher to show to any friendly representative of the local constabulary who thinks it may be a good idea to kettle all Palace fans towards the station after the match. I'll certainly take a copy!

The kettleing of palace fans after game is not just for the station it's for everyone the coaches are right by the away end but they are still made to wait before there let go . Not sure showing a voucher to one of 200 robocops is going to get you out of the ring of steel I've seen 70 year olds ect not let out after arsking old bill .

Coming in from south Kent. Parking at Lewes, then 4 trains an hour for a 7 min journey looks good. Anyone done it before. Station car park looks a decent size.

If there are a few in the car, then it can work out cheaper than faffing with trains (especially if you are travelling to/from somewhere off the beaten track).

There are free park and ride options too, but sometimes you just want the minimum hassle.

Yes, but parked elsewhere in the town, not the station car park.

Yup.Last time I went there I had the joy of being locked out and then kettled to the station at half time.Still getting back into the swing of things after a major op so minimising hassle is top priority though no doubt Sussex Constabulary will be their usual delightful selves to all of us regardless of if we are going to the station after the game...

Has anyone tried to get the bus out of the stadium after the game? I am staying down Friday Night and re-meeting the girlfriend in Brighton after the match, but, never got the bus out of the ground before, only experienced the station kettling

The bus station is up the steps right behind the away end. Just don't join the station kettling and wait till they allow people to go up those steps. The Palace coaches will also be up in that area so there'll be plenty of other fans going that way.

Tried it once.
Police blocked the station car park and it took about 45 minutes to find a space a long walk from the station. Not recommended.

Isn’t there some train works along the line from Eastbourne? You’ll have a lot of people driving from East Sussex looking for somewhere to park in Lewes.

Completely different experience for me. Have parked there 4 times now and never any problems (other than talking yourself out of getting on the ‘special’ train back).

Those steps are very handy. If the police are trying to hold everyone in at the end of the game, then saying you are on a coach usually gets you through their kettle and up those steps.

Once up those steps, you can walk straight out the other end of the buses/coaches parking area (onto Village Way) from where you can either walk round to the station unhindered, or indeed on from the station area to the bridge car park, Moulsecoomb, or wherever you want to go to.

Don't know what it's like on a Saturday, but I went to Lewes for football last week, parking was a nightmare. There was a football carpark at the college which was only £2 but I'm guessing as Lewes are away it won't be open.

The planning of the open top bus parade celebrating their fantastic "Premier league box office of the year 2019/20" award is well under way.
