Would anyone know / understand the German entry requirements at the moment - specifically for children?

We're driving there next week and my 2 children are under 12 - they've had one vaccination (all they're allowed at the moment) but I'm pretty sure Germany let their <12s have 2 jabs and so I'm not sure whether my children would class as fully vaccinated (and therefore not need a PCR test) or not?

Just had a look on the German Gov site. It's not very clear, is it!!

Firstly, as far as I understand - but don't take my word for it! - the so-called 3G rule continues until 31-MAY:

3G means you need proof of one of the following:
>>Geimpft=fully vaccinated, (e.g. NHS printout)
>>Genesen=recovered (not sure there's a UK certificate for this?)
>>Getestet=tested (Antigen/PCR-Test <48h - no self-test)


As far as <12s are concerned, you're right, it is not clear what constitutes "fully vaccinated" for them!

German Government site:
Personen, die das zwölfte Lebensjahr noch nicht vollendet haben und noch nicht geimpft sind, können mit einem Testnachweis (PCR-Test oder Antigentest) in Begleitung mindestens eines vollständig geimpften Elternteils einreisen. Personen, die das sechste Lebensjahr noch nicht vollendet haben, benötigen dabei keinen Testnachweis.

~Under 12s who are not vaccinated require a test, and have to be accompanied by at least one fully vaccinated adult. Under 6s are exempt.

For the <12s they do seem to say "vaccinated" and for the accompanying adults "fully vaccinated" though...

Section 2: rules for minors entering Germany

2.b. from 3rd countries e.g. UK:

"Children aged 6 to 11 are allowed to enter Germany if they are fully vaccinated or have an urgent need to travel. They are also allowed to enter the country if accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent. However, in this case they need to show a negative Covid-19 test. They are not required to quarantine."

"In Germany, a person is only deemed to be fully vaccinated when they have had 2 or in some cases 3 doses of vaccine (or 2 primary doses + booster)."

That's the initial info I saw, but then also saw a different definition of vaccinated where if you've had 1 x vaccination, and had Covid before hand, it suggests that counts but than other pieces of information seem to contradict it.

Annoyingly we leave here UK on the 31st but are staying in Bruges for a night and then arrive in Germany on the 1st of June so it could be irrelevant anyway depending what they change the rules to!

Guess we'll get a PCR just in case and keep our fingers crossed!

I've asked the Germany/UK forum about single vaccines for the under 12s, see what they think...

Edit... Antigen tests are also permitted, but have to be 'official'/supervised ones. May be cheaper/easier than PCR ones...

Edit 2... bear in mind that the test results can't be older than 48 hours when you are entering Germany

Received 3rd vaccination in November.

So,

A) The vaccines wear off.
B).The vaccines don’t protect against the new variants.

It's option A (but only reduced antibodies not wears off completely) and C with a touch of the fact it REDUCES infections but doesn't stop them completely.

A) Yeah. That’s why you have had three of them. Bit like the flu vaccine. Why did you think you got your top up third one if they didn’t decrease in effectiveness?
B) no shit! That’s why the flu vaccine has to change annually to protect against variants. They offer some protection of course but not as much as against the variant they were built against.
C) correct. Hopefully they do their job for you as you describe.

A mild dose of covid 6 weeks ago has left me with savage gastrointestinal problems that has ruined my quality of life at the moment. Cant eat even though i'm starving, 4 lots of antibiotics and still no relief, they don't really know whats wrong. A ct scan today and a colonoscopy in july will find out hopefully. I'm convinced it's an auto immune thing as some of the symptoms are weird. Anyone who says it's just a cold can **** off.

Could it have brought on an allergy?

One associate had covid over a year ago and still has no appetite as such.

Maybe to an allergy, or it's brought on colitis/diverticulitis because it gave me the shits.

My appetites fine, but if i eat solids the shits ,pain, mild fever and even urine problems kick in. If i just drink gallons of water and eat a little bit of yogurt or sweet potato i'm okish, but i'm losing weight and just can't do anything physical, it's driving me nuts.

God that's bad. But looking for a bit of positivity at least no breathlessness or diminished lungs.
Sounds a bit like gastrointeritis or IBS. My ex was told that's a chenmical.imbalance and recommended some supplement tablets. I'll see if I can get the name?

I had severe bacterial colitis a few years back, lost 12kg, was hospitalized for a month and hallucinating.
Took a massive dose of steroids to hammer it.

Might not help the original issue but a hammering with covid and round after round of antibiotics wont be doing your gut bacteria any good. You might be utterly overrun by the bad stuf if that's all killed the good.

Look into some strong and good quality pro/pre biotics. Do some research because you get what you pay for and the cheap shite wont do a thing as it'll not be viable by time it reaches your gut.

I'd highly recommend water kefir for this. I know a lot of people who've found it very helpful for similar things.

Yep i got a really highly recommended liquid probiotic called symprove. But it's been battling against all the antibiotics which haven't worked and to be honest i don't think i needed them as they think i have diverticulitis, but i think it's colitis or an autoimmune thing which isn't treated with them. Until i get a proper diagnosis which is taking forever with our crumbling nhs , i'm just treading water trying to minimise the symptoms. I'm not the only one left with ongoing problems after covid for sure.

My ex was told to get Bio Kult, she's done well with it. Had loads of gastro/IBS/type issues. It was a private consultant, she has medical cover. The NHS just couldnt get to bottom of it (no pun).

Also with antibiotics isn't it live yoghurt you need.
