I remember reading that the mods turn it off when we are playing as it apparently slows down the BBS (even more) - but I don't know what it is was or what is does / did either?

This does happen, or at least certainly did happen. Perhaps it didn’t get turned back on again.

Yeah I get it - you click once to pull the list down, then click of the forum or subforum that you want.

The method I use is to click on the "CPFC BBS" link at the top of the page, then get the full menu of forums and click from there into whatever forum I want. But MOST of the time I go straight to the 'New Posts' button and I get an instant picture of what has changed on EVERY forum since my last activity (although it does pick up 'Let's count to a trillion' and all that shite).

But I suppose the benefit of Forum Jump is that you don't have to scroll back to the top of the thread to find the CPFC BBS link or New Posts button, and the Forum Jump is right there below you to the right. Hmmm.

Personally I do like to see the full detail of the forums so I can see what the last thread updated was, what time and by whom. Especially useful if you are browsing at a time of day when there isn't as much activity.
