It's called making personal suggestions of players that I rate and would like to see join, this is regardless to whether there is any stated interest or not by the club.
Surely you must realise this often happens on club sites like the BBS.

tbf he has probably earned it. His performances have been good. The cost is only 12.5m(UKP) which in the PL isn't that much. Luka, PvA and Shlupp all cost more than that 5 years ago on higher wages.

Yes, some people are baulking at this price, but by today's standards it is not a lot. I have to say I am impressed at the way he has got his head down for a year and waited for his chance, he could easily have got the hump and wanted out.

They were all experienced internationals with trophies.
A better comparison is what we paid for Olise, Eze or Edouard.

Indeed Harry winks would be a great addition but to replace Macca ultimately.
We are blessed with several potential left backs in our development teams and have existing players who can cover Mitchell .......who in 6months time will be recognised as being well ahead of Taylor

More composed and looks like he knows what is around him in game time. I would keep him. Especially if we could get the drain on us bentekie out the door.

Is it? Olise had a release clause and Edouard would surely have cost more if he hadn’t been in his last year.

Benteke to Watford? He doesn't suit our style. As for Mateta, he's much improved. Good enough? Not completely sure, there might be better options out there.

And there will be other deals of this sort around. Mateta will be in his final year by the end of this loan period.

If he goes onto the open market with a year left Mainz might get less but the player will then likely demand more as he is a year away from free agency. I've no idea on the terms of our option on the player but I would guess that involves a pre-agreed wage with Mateta.

Celtic were looking for £20m+ a year before we bought Edouard. We got him for £14m as he had one year left but as a result had to give him a contact on £80k a week (from reports). Its swings and roundabouts but ultimately a similar net amount going out for the buyer.

Let's not forget that Mateta has scored a goal against Norwich and Millwall so far during his current run. Both teams are likely to be playing in the championship next season. A bit of perspective might be required, even if he has evidently improved massively since his form at the beginning of his loan spell.

He also played very well against Liverpool giving their defence lots of problems and laid on an assist when he could have probably scored himself.
