Come on, it's almost certainly true.

Kelly has barely played in 18 months and won't get a new contract. If anyone offers us a fee now we will sell.

Jairo has been a disappointment under 3 managers now, despite the weird BBS clamour for him when Roy rightly left him out. Due to his age we could possibly fetch some kind of fee for him, if anyone is willing to match his wages. I doubt there will be much interest but if we are offered money for him to reinvest I would certainly take it.

All this talk of not re-signing/replacing Kouyate, yes his first touch and passing can be a bit random at times, but under Viera his role is to cover the ground, intercept and tackle and he has done that supérbly.

Moreover he looks as fit as a fiddle. Why not give him 2 more years?

I doubt Jairo is on the same wages (circa £55k) following his new contract than his original one. Madness if so.

Agree it will still be hard to move him on though. Can only see him returning to the Dutch league.

Valuable centre back cover too.

I am honestly more worried about us missing Kouyate than Zaha during AFCON.

Absolutely agree. We might want an upgrade in that position, but we will certainly need to be able to rotate/have cover.

Half agree but think it's a case of finding an immediate upgrade with Cheick as back-up / squad player in the next few years.

If we can find a younger player with similar attributes plus more ability on the ball, maybe a goal or two in him, the whole team goes up another level IMO.

Ibrahim Sangare is one option others have mentioned - not sure if realistic.

But we need to move Luka out first.

Always useful to check the source - Cawley is pretty reliable and close to the club.

I'm not sure if any story about Martin Kelly could ever reasonably be described as "click bait". Hardly glamorous.

It's click bait to Palace fans due to the subject matter.

I know that he has close contacts with the club but none of his recent stuff has been revolutionary IMO.

Or maybe the club have asked him to put a little piece up on these players as we don't see much of a role from them and would rather try to convert them into revenue that could be used to strengthen elsewhere?

Still lots of rumours Dean Henderson wants a move - he’d be pricey, but I wonder if we’d have a shout of signing him? Spurs need a replacement for Lloris and West Ham might be interested,, but the rest of the top 10 teams seem to have a long term keeper already.

I don't think a club is going to pick up a copy of the South London Press and go oh shit an experienced Premier League defender and midfielder have suddenly become available...

It's about as likely as Rich Cawley fabricating a story about two Palace squad players for a handful of clicks on a local paper's website.

Where did I say it was fabricated? It's obvious.

But it's unsourced, no quotes or anything. No attempt at the club have said this or that or anything.

Honestly the disrespect he’s had over the last few years on here has been laughable and now everyone wants him to extend.

We've missed the boat on a lot of good right backs over the past couple of years who in hindsight would've made us look a whole lot better going forwards. Lamptey, Livramento, Castange and James Justin are just a few off the top of my head. Obviously we went for Ferguson but time's ticking and he needs to start showing something or we need to look elsewhere. I wonder if Max Aarons will still command the big figures Norwich were wanting a while back.

Max Aarons
Ibrahim Sanagre

These would be the kind of players I reckon that would transform us slightly.

I'm sure Freedman is onto it anyway, given the success of last summers spend I'm confident we'll be more than fine for next season.

We need to get in an improvement in defensive midfield. The issue we have is that have three players in that position in Kouyate, Luka and Jairo. Atleast one of those needs to go to get budget in the summer. Unfortunately the best one out of those three is the one going out of contract. Unless we can sell Luka or Jairo we are going to struggle for budget to renew Kouyate and buy someone decent on top.

Sam Johnstone will be the prize in the summer, England squad regular and on a free from West Brom
