Why didn`t Starmer just said no to whoever was advising him - it was cringeworthy . I rarely watch PMQ`s now it is like a Pantomime with both sides constantly jeering each other .

I have only ever seen one Star Wars movie so in the name of science did a spot of character research. It doesn't seem too bad an analogy to me. Particularly as a dichometric morality contrast to Obe Wan Kenobi. This from Wikipedia "the slug-like alien would ultimately fall victim to his own hubris and vengeful ways". We can but hope...

Johnson himself has been particularly direct and unpleasant more than once about Ian Blackford's weight. But there are far better ways to call him out directly on his own adherence or otherwise to the lecturing £multi-million campaign he launched in 2020 telling people (particularly ethnic minorities) to lose weight than by using an indirect reference to the appearance of an obscure movie character* I'm probably with the hubristic gangster interpretation. The slug aspect may just be a happy coincidence. When I was at art college we were told that allowing each person to make their own multiple interpretations, whether what they saw was your intention or not, was a good thing. Perhaps that is what's happened here.

Personally I think Starmer wouldn't be a bad choice for a Prime Minister, I just don't like him as leader of the Labour Party. If he was a Conservative MP, he'd probably have been PM after Cameron, and likely still the Party Leader.

When discussed recently, the only alternatives I recall being mentioned (being capable of winning over the key floating voters) were Burnham/D.Miliband/Balls (not even MPs) and Cooper (who may not want it).
