I remember going to Birmingham away early in that season. Kennedy had done pretty well in the first couple of games, including his corner delivery. We got a corner late in the game and he didn't take it - it was Adrenalin John who pointed out that it was because he was too knackered.

Glenn Pennyfather. I remember people groaning when his name was read out on the team sheet - a role that was later passed on to Alan Pardew. Did they ever start a game together? I dread to imagine it.

We sold Andy Gray to Villa for £150,000 and spent it all on Pennyfather. A massive downgrade.
